January , 22nd : An evening of collaborative works in Movement, Sound and Video
Feeturing Movement Artists Nathan Andary, Sarah June, Liz Roncka, Vangeline, Sound Artists Christophe Delerce, Max Lord and video Artist Geoff Shelton
A shared evening program, 'Ocean's Body' features 2 works by artists from Boston and New York City. 'Tidal' is a site-specific piece created for the stage from movement research conducted at the 2010 Bumpkin Island Art Encampment, in the Boston Harbor Islands of Massachusetts. Dancers Ellen Godena and Nathan Andary create a series of body-land sculptures that mimic tidal movement over Bumpkin's "gut" - a land bridge to Hull, Massachusetts that emerges at low tide. As the dancers' movements shift pebbles and stones, piles of rock will accumulate and dissipate, appearing as rolling ‘waves' across the landscape. The piece features live sound by Max Lord on buchla synthesizer, persephone, and mixed percussion. The second half of the evening will feature 'Spectral' a short film and butoh performance by Vangeline and Geoff Shelton. Inspired by the former 19th century textile mill that is now home to the Gaga Arts Center (gagaartscenter.org), Vangeline and Geoff Shelton have created the short film Spectral.
